Born in October 1954, Michel Kheirallah started his violin lessons in 1968 at the Lebanese National Conservatory of Music with Professor Emile Noune. Kheirallah continued his studies at the “Ecole Normale de Musique” in Paris, France with Professor Jacques Prat from 1975 till 1979. From 1979 till 1984, Michel attended the “Tchaikovsky Conservatory” in Moscow with Professor Galina Barinova. Michel Kheirallah has been a member of several orchestras in France and is the dean of the string section in the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music.
Since the establishment of the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra, Michel Kheirallah has been the concert Master of the orchestra. Since 2005, he is also a conductor of the LPO.
Born in Lebanon in 1990, Sary Khalife started studying piano at the age of five. At the age of seven, he started studying cello with professor Sarkis Kochkarian at the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music, where he brilliantly obtained his baccalaureate at the age of 15. During his studies in Lebanon, he played Saint-Saens and Haydn cello concertos as a soloist with the Lebanese National Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2004, Sary joined the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under the baton of Daniel Barenboim and toured with the orchestra for six weeks every year until today, performing at the most prestigious venues including the Albert Hall in London, Salle Pleyel in Paris, Berlin Philharmonic Hall, Philharmonie de Paris, among others.
In 2006, Sary joined Xavier Gagnepain’s class at the CRR in Boulogne-Billancourt and won, unanimously, the first prize in June 2008.
In September 2011, Sary was admitted to the Paris National Superior Conservatory of Music and Dance and joined the classes of Rolland Pidoux, Xavier Phillips, Marc Coppey, and Pauline Bartissol. In 2014, he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree and later in 2016, his Master’s Degree. During this time, Sary attended the improvisation classes of Alexandros Markeas and Vincent Lequang.
In January 2013, he performed with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra the Beethoven’s Triple Concerto in C Major along with his brother Ayad Khalife and Karim Saleh, directed by Michalis Economou.
In August 2014, Sary Khalife, along with his brother, Ayad Khalife, and Mike Massy launched their new album “Naseej” at the Zook Mikhael Festival.
In June 2018, Sary and his brother, pianist Ayad Khalife released their second album “Soobia”, composed and played by themselves, and produced with the support of the AFAC. They have been presenting this project in France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Lebanon, ever since.
Sary was a member of the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra from February 2017 until August 2018. He continues to play regularly with the Metz, Toulouse, and Mulhouse Orchestras and is also a member of the Al-Mayadin Ensemble lead by Marcel Khalife.
Born to a musical family in Lebanon, Ihab Jamal began home-learning the violin at the age of 6 and then at the Lebanese Higher National Conservatory of Music. He is a student of Professor and pedagogue Arthur Ter-Hovhannisyan and holds a Master’s degree from the Komitas Yerevan State Conservatory. Ihab is an international prizewinner awarded the 1st prize at the international competition of the Renaissance Festival which was held in 2015 in Gyumri – Armenia and 3rd place at the contest Hrach Bogdnayan International Violin Festival in 2015 in Yerevan, as well as the 1st place in the Chamber Music Competition Margot Babikian in 2010 in Beirut.
Ihab is a member of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra with Maestro Daniel Barenboim where he appears in the concert halls of La Scala – Milan, Musikverein – Vienna, Salle Pleyel – Paris, Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Teatro Colon in Argentina, KKL – Lucerne, Salzburg Festspiele and many others. Ihab appeared as a soloist with the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra performing the Khachaturian, Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn violin concertos, and participated at the Aram Khachaturian International Violin Competition in 2015 as the first Lebanese violinist representing his country at a prestigious competition.
He was invited to perform solo and chamber music concerts in Russia with pianist Liana Harutyunyan, highlighted by performances at Yaroslavl Philharmonic Hall and Rybinsk Cultural Center and concerts at the Famous and historical Rostov Kremlin old city. He also performed concerts at Vologda Philharmonic Hall and Cherepovets Philharmonic Hall accompanied by the Vologda Chamber Orchestra as well as a performance at Moskonsert Hall in Moscow, accompanied by the “Seasons” Chamber Orchestra of Moscow with Maestro Vladislav Bulakhov celebrating it’s 25th Anniversary. Locally, Ihab appearded at several festivals in Lebanon, including the first 2 editions of Les Musicales de Baabdath, the Molaeb Festival for Chamber music and fine Arts, and Beirut Chants Festival. He also gives annually a number of concerts in several cities.
