Rodion Zamuruev is a Russian violinist, laureate of major International competitions, professor at the Moscow Conservatory and art director and soloist of the Soloists Ensemble Mobilis.
Rodion was born in Petrozavodsk. In 1993, he graduated from the P.I. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory (class of professor I.V. Bochkova) and in 1996, from the master class program of professor I.V. Bochkova. He is the laureate of the Russian National Competition of Violinists (1997), laureate of the International Tibor Varga competition (Sion, Switzerland, 1998), winner of the Special prize for the best interpretation of contemporary pieces, Grant-holder of the Mstislav Rostropovich Fund (David Oistrakh grant), Second prize in the “Rudolfo Lipizer” International Violin Competition (Gorizia, Italyy, 1999), winner of the Special Prize for the best interpretation of J.S. Bach’s solo sonatas and partitas, Laureate of the 1st Concours International Jean Rogister for violin and alto (Verviers, Belgique, 2000), second prize in the Dr. Luis Sigal International Violin Competition (Vine del Mar, Chile, 2000), winner of the “Spectators’ choice” and Laureate of the 13th International Bach Competition (Leipzig, Germany, 2002).
Rodion has a hectic concert schedule, touring Russian towns and cities and also performing outside Russia in Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Luxemburg, Belgium, Switzerland, Greece, Chile, Turkey, China, Japan, Estonia. His repertoire embraces over three centuries of musical heritage and is inspired by the performer’s strong individuality. He has more than 20 recordings with compositions dating to different epochs – from Baroque to contemporary times, released among others by US firms Sterling Classics and Marco Polo. The recording of the violin concerto of the American composer Aaron Avshalomov, released by Marco Polo/Naxos, was honored by the award of a prestigious German music magazine Fono Forum.
Zamuruev collaborates also with leading Russian symphony orchestras, such as the Svetlanov State Academic Symphony Orchestra, the Russian National Orchestra and the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. His repertoire for violin and orchestra includes over 40 concertos, including those rarely performed, such as the Concerto and Poem by Emile Jacques-Dalcroze, recorded for the Swiss firm Guild on the occasion of the composer’s jubilee.
In 2002, Rodion Zamuruev established the International Mobilis Ensemble – an original format – where seven musicians implement symphonic concepts.
In 1994, Rodion Zamuruev began his teaching career as the assistant professor of I.V. Bochkova at the Moscow Conservatory and the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory. As of 2007, he teaches his own class at the Moscow Conservatory. In 2014, he received the title of professor with many of his students being laureates of International competitions. He also occasionally works in the capacity of visiting professor at the Paris National Conservatory in the class of professor B. Garlitsky. Since 2012, he is a professor at Sakuyo University (Japan).
