Dear friends and music lovers,
After two years of forced interruption, we are thrilled to bring back the Strings of Hope annual edition of Les Musicales de Baabdath, alongside the Strings of Hope Mentorship Program, in partnership with Goethe-Institut Libanon and in collaboration with the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music.
This year, our focus is on supporting the next generation of Lebanese pianists. We celebrate this return by opening this new edition of the festival with a talented group of five advanced student pianists from the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music coached by German pianist and Pedagogue Holger Groschopp.
Under the patronage of the Lebanese Ministry of Tourism, our stage welcomes an inspiring mix of international musicians. From the creative energy of our Lebanese diaspora with Sary & Ayad Khalife, the homeland debut of internationally acclaimed Russian-Lebanese and German citizen soprano Anna El-Khashem, to the young French pianist Sacha Morin whose sensitivity and technical mastery are already earning him recognition across Europe.
Furthermore, our international musical journey spans many worlds. From classical european repertoire to oriental-infused compositions, from the lively Brazilian and Latin rhythms brought to us by the Arthur Satyan Quartet, to the rich Armenian music and soulful musicianship of the Yerevan String Quartet.
Lebanese composers remain at the heart of our festival with the evocative works of Boghos Gelalian, newly commissioned pieces composed and performed by the Khalife Brothers, and a world premiere by Houtaf Khoury. Their music reminds us that Lebanon’s musical excellence continues to thrive.
None of this would be possible without our devoted partners, patrons, and friends in Baabdath, across Lebanon, and around the world. Your generosity allows us to keep every performance free and open to all, because music should not always be a privilege – but a gift to share.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Sleiman Corbani
